Echo Mountain (Castle Canyon Trail) to Inspiration Point

Hike Breakdown:
Level: Moderate
Distance: 4 miles roundtrip (to Echo Mountain)
Parking: Free

Inspiration Point has to be one of my favorite hikes in Altadena, California. It has a bit of a challenge but very doable. To get to this point, you would have to hike via Castle Canyon or Sam Merrill Trail. Please refer back to the Cobb Estate to Mount Lowe Railway post.

Depending what time of the day the hike will have some areas of shade. I started this hike at 10 am and had no shade at the beginning. As the hike went along, there seemed to be more and more shade but as you reach the top, it becomes exposed.

Some points in the hike, the path became very narrow.

Along the path, I came across many lizards. This particular one is a blue bellied lizards. It was almost the size of my hand!

Interrupted to lizards mating! Oops.

Almost to the top! In the distance.

Marvelous views of LA!

Almost stepped on a baby snake!

Trails are narrow and rocky

Made it!

Different pointers to different cities

Steep on the way back down
